Marukyu Koyamaen invites you to an exclusive summer tea gathering to experience the hospitality and the beauty of the Japanese Way of Tea.
Enjoy the Zen-like atmosphere of a traditional tea house, surrounded by a tranquil garden. Experienced tea practitioners will guide you in English through intricate procedures and tearoom etiquette that us essential to The Way of Tea.
Beginner’s Course

Tea tasting of cold Gyokuro. Enjoy the beauty of seasonal Japanese confectionary. Watch video about Matcha production. - Japanese garden (The Roji)
Learn how to use of a wash-basin to purify yourself before entering the tea room, and how to enter through the “crawl-in door”. - The tea room
Engage with the basics of “The Way of Tea” through the traditional procedure for Matcha preparation. - Workshop
Acquire the basic skills to whisk Matcha by yourself.Open space for questions and experimenting.
Experience milling Matcha as in the olden days, using a manual stone mill.
Please bring a mask: We might ask the participants to wear a mask during the tea gathering. Please follow the instruction from our staff.
